KU Alzheimer’s Disease Center Internship
Mission and Purpose
The mission of the KU Alzheimer’s Disease Center (KU ADC) is to promote Alzheimer's disease and brain aging research in the Kansas City region. The KU ADC supports a wide range of Alzheimer's disease and brain aging research, including molecular, epidemiologic, observational, model-based, and clinical studies. Our team is committed to conducting high-quality, innovative research projects.
As part of that mission, the KU ADC is committed to training prospective researchers and health professionals in brain aging and dementia study and care. This internship program has been designed to provide individuals with experiential learning opportunities in both clinical dementia care and research.
Availability
There are a limited number of intern positions offered based on funding and mentorship availability. They are awarded on a competitive basis at the discretion of the KUADC Education Core Director, Dr. Heather Anderson, with no guarantee an applicant will be awarded a position.

Goals for the Internship Program
1) Attract high quality pre-professionals with a structured, mutually beneficial, learning experience.
2) Train future geriatric and dementia care researchers and clinicians.
3) Provide a meaningful and rewarding training experience that goes beyond the classroom walls.
Prospective Intern Training Background
Individuals with training in biology, kinesiology, gerontology, psychology, public health, or a professional or academic interest in neuroscience, neuroimaging, aging or health care are preferred. Those with other backgrounds and career interests (engineering, art, etc.) are welcome but encouraged to contact Dr. Anderson before applying. Suitable applicants will have matriculated or earned an Associate’s degree or higher and be considering advanced training and education in geriatric health care.
