KUMed Central

Welcome to our new employees! Meet our new additions here

Congratulations to our 2013 graduates

The 141th Commencement at the University of Kansas was held in Lawrence on Sunday, May 19. More than 600 students in the Schools of Health Professions, Medicine and Nursing completed their undergraduate and graduate degrees this semester. Check here throughout the week for Commencement photos and list of award recipients.

New - shadow training package

Prospective students sometimes request to "shadow" a KUMC professional. Since the shadowing experience involves exposure to health information or patient contact, the HIPAA Privacy Rule and other institutional requirements apply. Shadow training and the shadow document package requires no KUMC account. Faculty and administrators should remember to have the student print out a certificate upon completion and retain the certificate in the department. If the student has taken HIPAA training at another institution, ask for proof of satisfactory completion. JUST FOR FUN

Who am I? On July 27, 2010, I performed the first ovarian transplant in the state of Kansas and the Kansas City area at The University of Kansas Hospital. Email your answer.

The answer to last week's question was W. Kendall McNabney, M.D.  While serving as a field surgeon during the Vietnam War, Dr. McNabney helped develop the triage system, which he modeled his emergency programs after at Truman Medical Center. See last week's questions.
