About the KU Alzheimer's Disease Center (KU ADC) Ambassador Program

The KU ADC Ambassador Program provides study participants and their caregivers with volunteer opportunities beyond their study participation. Ambassadors serve as our partners in research and community projects. Ambassadors receive invitations to exclusive, ADC Ambassador-only educational programming and hands-on activities with ADC researchers and clinicians as a thank you to the Ambassadors for their commitment to our program.

Who is eligible to become a KU ADC Ambassador?

Anyone who is a current or past study participant or a caregiver of a current or past study participant is eligible to apply. Applications will be reviewed and accepted on an individual basis. Consistent with University policy you must be willing to sign a confidentiality and liability agreement, carry health insurance and submit to a background check.

How can I sign up as a potential candidate for the KU ADC Ambassador Program?

To be considered for acceptance in to the KU ADC Ambassador Program, each potential KU ADC Ambassador must:

  1. Fill out an online application
  2. Complete and return the KUMC required paperwork, which will be mailed to you.
  3. Pay the application fee of $50 to off-set the cost of the required background check

Once all the paperwork is complete and submitted to the KU ADC Ambassador Program Coordinator, the background check will be performed. Once the background check is complete, you will be notified of your status in the Program.

What will be expected of a KU ADC Ambassador?

• Complete the application process described above
• Volunteer for KUADC projects a minimum two hours per month, but no more than five hours per week.
• Reap the benefits of the KU ADC Ambassador program with up-close and personal discussions with KU ADC researchers and clinicians about the latest in Alzheimer's disease and brain aging research.

Interested in becoming an ADC Ambassador?
Complete our online application and then attend an ADC Ambassador training session.

ADC Ambassador training sessions occur every other month, and each session includes the Ambassador training, education around Alzheimer's Disease and current research projects as well as work groups for the volunteers. Invitations are sent to those who have completed an online application.

Ambassadors also receive invitations to exclusive, ADC Ambassador-only educational programming and events with ADC researchers and clinicians as a thank you for their commitment to our program.
