The KU Women in Science and Medicine (WIMS) organization is committed to serve all faculty and trainees from the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and the School of Health Professions. Our mission is focused on advancing the careers of women in the fields of medicine and science through development of mentoring, networking, and faculty retention. Our infrastructure is comprised of the following groups, with member representatives from each of the three schools on campus:
We provide programs for professional career development, educational seminars, presentations on physical and mental health-related topics, and social events.
The Women in Medicine and Science organization maintains an affiliation with the American Association of Medical College's (AAMC) GWIMS and the Society for Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM). Our GWIMS representative is Susan K. Pingleton, MD, FACP, Master Fellow, ACCP, Joy McCann Professor of Women in Medicine and Science, Director, Quality and Professional Development, Continuing Medical Education, Graduate Medical Education.
